Zeagle Regulator High Pressure Seat Recall: Zeagle Systems, Inc. is recalling 931 first stage Scuba regulators sold between January 20, 2003 and May 19, 2003. If you have one of these regulators it is essential to take it to your dealer for immediate repair. Do not attempt to dive with this regulator again until the regulator has been inspected and by an authorized Zeagle dealer.
The first stage regulators affected are the following models...
FlatHead Six:
|
s/n F001391 to F001476 |
50D:
|
s/n B003315 to B003652 |
DS-IV:
|
s/n A001352 to A001571 |
The serial numbers are stamped on each first stage body. Zeagle regulators that have been serviced since January 20, 2003 may also be affected.
These first stage regulators may have a defective high-pressure seat that could cause the first stage to over pressurize. If this occurs, the air supply to the diver could be interrupted, making it impossible for the diver to breathe from the regulator. This type of failure is most likely to occur upon initial pressurization of the regulator and is unlikely to occur underwater.
If you own one of these regulators, take it to your authorized Zeagle dealer for a free inspection and repair. Call 1-800-771-5568 or contact any authorized Zeagle dealer for information on obtaining a free repair. Zeagle Systems, Inc. is located at 37150 Chancey Rd., Zephyrhills, FL 33541.
PADI Recreational Dive Planner Recall: Printer errors have been discovered in certain Recreational Dive Planners (RDPs). The problems may appear in six (6) versions of the RDP, including both air and enriched air tables. Our printer is working diligently with us to correct his error.
These tables may be included in Open Water and Enriched Air Crew Paks, book and table combinations, CD-ROM combinations and alacart tables shipped between 1 October 2002 and 31 January 2003. Please note that not all RDPs you may have received during this period contain printer errors.
While analysis of the problems shows that the risk of injury from the errors is remote, for the sake of safety, PADI feel a broad approach to this issue should be taken. Immediately check your existing inventory and remove any RDPs you received from PADI with the product numbers and production codes listed below. The product number and production code is generally located on the bottom right hand corner on the back of the table. The product number and production code consist of a series of numbers and letters resembling: Product No. 60049 XXXPDJ2.
There may also be a revision date (Rev 10/02) and/or version number (Version 1.0) listed. These numbers are inconsequential. In checking the production code for inaccurate tables, please ignore the first three digits and only check the last four.

Important Safety Recall: On or about February 4, 2003, UWATEC AG of Hallwil, Switzerland, in cooperation with the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, will announce that the company is voluntarily recalling approximately 392 Aladin Air X Nitrox dive computers manufactured in 1995. We have learned that an error in the software may incorrectly calculate the desaturation time for nitrox dives. This could result in a possible risk of decompression sickness under aggressive dive conditions.
The 1995 Aladin Air X Nitrox dive computers were sold in 1995 and early 1996 for $950 to $1200 retail. They are distinguished by the test dates found on the back of the computer in the lower right hand corner. The affected units will have the number of the month followed by a decimal point and the number 95, i.e. 01.95. Only units with 1995 test dates are subject to this recall.

NO OTHER YEARS ( i.e. 96, 97, 98, 99, 01, 02) ARE UNDER THIS RECALL.
Decompression Hazard - 1995 Uwatec Aladin Air X Nitrox Dive Computer: The software in the 1995 dive computers may incorrectly calculate the desaturation time. This could result in a possible risk of decompression sickness under aggressive dive conditions.
Stop using the dive computer and call UWATEC toll free at the following number for a free dive computer replacement. Call 1-800-806-0640 or visiti our website at www.uwatec.com for more information.

Safety Recall: In coorporation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Oceanic USA, of San Leandro, California, is voluntarily recalling all Oceanic CDX first stage regulators used for scuba diving. Extreme vibration, a high oscillation of the internal components, can occur for an unknown reason within the CDX regulators, which can cause an air leakage underwater. Oceaniac CDX first stage regulators subject to the recall have serial numbers ranging from 9200001 to 9205622, 0200001 to 0213294, 0D0001 to 0D3046, 9800013 to 9801711, or 9D0001 to 9D3273. Consumers should stop using the recalled CDX regulator immediately and take them to any Oceanic Dealer. Should you have any questions call 866-723-2642.

Sherwood Maximus Recall: Sherwood Scuba has recalled its Maximus regulators after reports of mechanical failure in the user-adjustable second stage orifice. The failure, which has been discovered in seven regulators, can result in sudden freeflow. The potential failure is not catastrophic, divers can breathe from a freeflowing regulator by letting the excess spill from their mouths. Maximus users are advised to stop using the recalled regulator and immediately contact an authorized Sherwood retailer for a free rebuild. The recall covers the series 5600 models sold between January 1998 and November 2000 with the following model numbers.
SRB5600: SN# K600001 - K611834
SRB5600D2: SN# DK60000 - DK62000
SRB5600CE: SN# EK60001 - EK62000

OMS Recall: Ocean Management Systems, Inc in corporation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling buoyancy control systems overpressure valves. Molding variations in one component of the overpressure valve (OPV) used in the OMS Buoyancy Control System (BCS) could, in rare instances, prevent the OPV from sealing properly, creating a potential drowning hazard.
While this variation is not present in every OPV, it would be difficult to determine in the field which OPVs are suspect. Therefore, we require that all OPVs be replaced with new assemblies. All Customers are directed to return their BCS overpressure valve(s) to an authorized OMS Dealer for free replacement. OMS BC's with the following serial numbers (located on the warning label) are recalled:
OM1200000 - OM1200085
OM0100100 - OM0101229
OM0201000 - OM0201269
OM0301000 - OM0301159
OM0401085 - OM0401319
OM0501110 - OM0501509
OM0601125 - OM0601351
